Good Employees don’t quit their job
They quit their boss
Gone are the days when an employee works with the same organization for ages. Nowadays, switching a job is in trend! No! Getting a hike in salary or better designation is not the only reason why people switch. The most common reason is “bad boss.” The success of any entity is a two-way track. A good customer and a good employee are the two ingredients that make any business a successful one. Furthermore, good bosses lead a team of good employees, whereas bad bosses lose good employees for many reasons – bad behavior is one of them. Not every boss can be a leader, but a good leader can be a great boss. The role of a boss or a good leader is to uplift, motivate, train an employee or we can say – great bosses have the ability to create great leaders. No one likes to work for those managers who are always blowing their own trumpet!
Arrogance – is the word that pops up in my mind when someone talks about a bad boss. A boss with a bad attitude is like a car with a bad tire. They won’t lead you anywhere. Whereas, the power of humility is what makes all the difference!
It has been observed that working for a bad boss damage employee mental and physical health. In contrast, working for a good boss boosts up your morale and help you in becoming a great person in both professional and personal lives.
Things that make good leader different from the bad leader are:
Valuing customers but not Employees
Most managers value customers more than employees. One of the famous leaders said, always value your employees as you value your customers. If you take care of the employees, they will take care of the customers. A good manager always appreciates the work of their employee to boost up his morale. In contrast, a bad manager seldom says, good job to their employee.
Working with an insecure manager is like playing with fire. When a man is insecure, he sees everyone around him with a suspicious vision. A positive outlook is the greatest quality of any leader. It ensures that the boss sees everybody as a team player and not as a competitor.
Zero tolerance for Mistakes
Albert Einstein said, “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” If you don’t make mistakes, you can’t learn something new. Therefore, when an employee makes mistakes, a good manager encourages them to learn from it. In contrast, a bad manager abuses their employees for making mistakes in the result, it creates fear in them and ultimately affect their performance and confidence.
A manager with bad listening skills is injurious to the growth of an organization. Andy Stanley said – Leaders who refuse to listen will eventually be surrounded by people who have nothing helpful to say. Manager with bad listening skills can never lead a successful team and can never make a high turnover. As they never believe in taking feedback and ideas from their employees.
A good boss will always give credit of success to his team and take all the responsibility of failure on himself. However, a bad leader will play a blaming game and never take responsibility for failure rather put everything on his team.
In the end, we can say – never look for a great leader who can help you in achieving your goals. Instead, work hard and be a good leader who can help others in becoming a successful person.
